Dr Ben Thompson is an AI trainer, consultant, and governance professional with over 20 years’ experience across the public and private sectors. He is a Founding Partner at HoSoMoTo, where he advises organisations on practical AI adoption, AI governance, ISO/IEC 42001 implementation, and EU AI Act readiness, helping leaders deploy AI systems that are productive, ethical, and regulator-ready.
Alongside his consultancy work, Ben is Director of Education and Quality Assurance at Opportunities Workshop, where he designs and delivers AI training programmes, AI governance bootcamps, and ISO/IEC 42001 courses. He has led the delivery of multiple cohorts of learners, supporting professionals to gain industry-recognised AI and governance certifications and to apply AI safely and effectively in real organisational contexts. Ben is a Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor and Lead Implementor, and an experienced trainer in AI governance, ethical AI, risk management, data protection (GDPR), cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
His academic background is in Leadership and Management, holding two Master’s degrees and a Doctorate, which underpins his evidence-based approach to AI adoption, organisational change, and capability building. In addition to his commercial work, Ben volunteers as Data Protection Officer for The Cyber Helpline and is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
