As I walked up to the podium, the audience sat in anticipation, curious about this emerging field. By the end of the session, the room buzzed with excitement after my deep-dive into what AI Product truly means. April 2024 feels like just yesterday, but back then, AI Product Management was still a niche domain— it still continues to be. Fast forward to today, October 12th, 2024—I've just knocked-off AI Product certification from AI CERTs^® and I’m feeling a sense of déjà vu. The growing importance of AI Product Managers to shape and shepherd AI space is unquestionable. The role of AI Product Managers has never been more crucial. They operate at the intersection of advanced technology and business strategy, tasked with ensuring that AI innovations are not only technically sound but also commercially successful and ethically responsible. According to McKinsey, the AI industry is set to create up to $13 trillion in global economic value by 2030, making it one of the fastest-growing sectors. For VC & private equity (PE) firms, AI product innovation is no longer just a buzzword—it’s a massive opportunity. In 2023 alone, over $70 billion was invested in AI and machine learning startups. Investors are increasingly betting on companies with strong AI product management teams capable of scaling AI-powered solutions to solve real-world problems.
